Overcoming Nerves

Interviews are an essential part of the process of gaining employment and therefore you know that it is important to get it right. This is why the thought of sitting through an interview brings up all sorts of fears in us. The grumbling tummy, the sweats, the dry mouth, the feeling of wanting to escape into a hole are all normal sensations when it comes to interview nerves. For some, it is worse than others. But, you can get these nerves under control using some simple methods:

  • Always eat a light meal before the interview as nerves are generally worse on an empty stomach.
  • Be prepared. The best way to overcome any nerves is to be as prepared as possible. Research the company, role-play possible questions, and know your CV thoroughly. This will ensure that you are ready for anything.
  • Be positive. The moment you start to put yourself down is the moment that you have lost the job.
